CaptainCon is 3 days of non-stop tabletop gaming and socializing fun every February in Warwick, RI. This community site is for attendees, fans, and game organizers from around the globe to connect and share. For 2021, it will also be the home for our virtual convention - COVID-19 may keep us apart, but it won't stop us from gaming.
Gamicon is an annual gaming convention held in Eastern Iowa in February for over 30 years. We have numerous Board, Card, and Roleplaying games over the course of three days and also feature a Game Library, Play to Win Games and a Games Auction. We were lucky enough to have an in-person convention in 2020, but will be holding our 2021 convention virtually. Gamicon is a project of Mindbridge Foundation. Protospiel is a network of playtesting conventions run in different locations at different times of the year. Each event has its own team of organizers who coordinate with organizers in other locations to spread the event dates evenly throughout the year. Each team of organizers has the freedom to set up the details of their home city convention as they choose while keeping to the core guidelines that make Protospiel unique among playtesting conventions:
*A full weekend of open, unscheduled board game playtesting
*No 100% finished games allowed
*A focus on playtesting and feedback rather than formal pitching, marketing, or business meetings
*A welcoming and friendly space for game designers of any level, playtesters excited to give feedback, and prototypes with any level of polish
*Designers aim to give approximately as much playtesting as they receive from the group (If 4 people play your game for 1 hour, try to spend 4 hours playing others' games.)
